Rill · effective 27 September 2026

The short version. Rill is a free puzzle game with no accounts. Your progress, streak and settings live only on your own device. The game sends anonymous play statistics (which puzzles get started and finished, how long they take, whether hints are used) to an analytics service so the puzzles can be tuned; you can turn that off in Settings. The iPhone/iPad app shows a small banner ad and optional full-screen ads between levels, served by Google AdMob and requested as non-personalized; rewarded videos only ever play when you choose one (a hint, a streak restore, a Blitz revive). Nothing is sold, and no name, e-mail or account is ever asked for.

1. Who this covers

This policy explains what information the game Rill ("the game", "we") handles when you play it in a web browser at rill.playeverspring.com, on a games site that embeds it, or as an app from an app store. The game is made and operated by its independent developer, Gino Cattuzzo, under the Everspring name. Contact details are at the end of this page.

2. What the game stores on your device

The game keeps your progress in your browser's local storage (or the app's equivalent on a phone). This never leaves your device unless you back up your phone yourself. It includes:

Choosing Settings → Reset all progress erases all of it. Clearing your browser's site data, or uninstalling the app, does the same.

3. Anonymous play statistics

To learn where the puzzles are too hard, too easy or confusing, the game reports play events to PostHog, an analytics service, on our behalf.

What is sent:

What is not done: no session recordings or screen captures are made, no keystrokes or form contents are captured, and the statistics are never combined with data from other apps or sites.

PostHog processes this data in the United States and keeps event data for up to one year. See the PostHog privacy policy.

Turning it off. Open Settings in the game and switch off Anonymous usage stats. Nothing further is sent from that device. You can also open the game with ?noanalytics at the end of the address.

4. Advertising

The iPhone and iPad app shows a small banner advertisement at the bottom of the screen, below the puzzle and the buttons, never over them. It may also show a full-screen ad between Ladder levels or after a Blitz run — never in the middle of a puzzle and never between finishing the daily puzzle and sharing it. Rewarded videos play only when you tap a clearly labelled offer (a hint, restoring a streak, extra Blitz time). There are no in-app purchases and nothing to buy.

Ads in the app are delivered by Google AdMob. The versions you play in a web browser currently show no ads of our own; if ads are added there, they will come from Google AdSense or from the game portal's own advertising system, and this page will say so.

The ad partner, not the game, decides which ad you see, and may process your internet address, device identifiers, general location and how you interact with ads, under its own privacy policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

The app asks for non-personalized ads: Google chooses the ad from the context — the app you are in and roughly where you are — and not from a profile of you. On iOS the app will show Apple's tracking permission prompt the first time an ad is set up; you can say no, and the game works the same. Where the law requires a choice (the EEA, the UK, Switzerland and some US states), Google's consent form appears the first time you play.

5. Reminders

The app can send you a local notification when a new daily puzzle is ready, and a reminder in the evening if your streak is at risk. These are scheduled on your device only, are off by default, and can be switched off in Settings or in your phone's notification settings.

6. Children

Rill is a logic puzzle suitable for a general audience, but it is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The game never asks for a name, age, e-mail address or any other personal detail. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in some other way, contact us and it will be deleted.

7. Sharing and selling

We do not sell personal information and do not share it for anyone else's marketing. The only recipients of any data are the service providers named above (the analytics service and the advertising partner), each acting under its own policy, and — if you play on a games portal — that portal, under the portal's policy. When you tap Share, the text you share goes only where you send it.

8. Your choices and rights

Because the game keeps no account and the statistics are anonymous, we cannot look up, correct or delete "your" analytics records — we have no way to know which records are yours. If you live in a region with data-protection rights (for example the EU, the UK or California), you have the right to ask what we hold, to object, and to complain to your data-protection authority; to exercise those rights, contact us below.

9. Security and retention

Data travels encrypted (HTTPS). Progress stays on your device for as long as you keep it. Analytics events are kept by the analytics service for up to one year and then deleted.

10. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date at the top will change and the game's version notes will say so. Continuing to play after a change means the new policy applies.
