How to play Rill
Rill is a daily path puzzle. You water a field: one channel of water has to reach every plot, passing the numbered wells in order.
- Start at well 1 and drag to draw the channel, one plot at a time — up, down, left or right.
- Water every plot. The channel visits each plot exactly once and can't cross itself.
- Pass the wells in order — 1, 2, 3 … — and finish on the last well.
- Fences block the water. Go around them.
Made a wrong turn? Drag back along your channel to erase it. Every field has exactly one solution.
Six tips that solve most fields
- Corners are forced. A corner plot without a well has only two neighbors, so the channel must come in through one and leave through the other. Draw those two links in your head first.
- So is any plot with two ways in. Fences cut plots off from their neighbors. A plot left with exactly two open neighbors is forced the same way as a corner. A plot with only one open neighbor can only be well 1 or the last well.
- Never split the field. If your channel cuts the unwatered plots into two separate pockets, you can't reach both — erase back to before the split.
- Mind the next well. Between well 3 and well 4, ask whether the plots you are skipping can still be reached later. Wells in order is what makes each field have a single answer.
- Save a way into the finish. The last well has to be the very last plot. Keep at least one unwatered neighbor next to it until the end.
- Use the checkerboard. Color the field like a chessboard: every step changes color. On a field with an odd number of plots, the channel starts and ends on the color that has one more plot — a quick check that a route can work.
Stuck anyway? A hint rewinds your channel to the last point where it was still right, instead of giving the answer away.
Three ways to play
Daily
One field a day, the same for everyone. Solve it to keep your streak and share a spoiler-free grid of your result.
Ladder
260 levels that grow from 4×4 to 8×7, the same for every player, with ranks from Trickle to Ocean and new seasons of the field as you climb.
Blitz
90 seconds, as many small fields as you can. Every solve adds time.
Questions
Is Rill like LinkedIn's Zip?
It's the same family of puzzle — one path through every cell, numbered checkpoints in order. Rill adds fences, the Ladder, Blitz and a share grid, and it needs no account. Rill is an independent game and not affiliated with LinkedIn.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
Free, no account, no sign-in. The browser version shows no ads. The iPhone app is supported by ads that never appear during your first puzzles or in the middle of a puzzle.
Can I play offline?
Yes — once the page has loaded it keeps working without a connection, and the iPhone app works offline too.
